My Favorite Tom Hanks Movies - Forrest Gump

Is there anyone who hasn't at least seen the previews for Forrest Gump?  They are memorable to say the least, from his sitting on a bench at the bus stop quoting his Mom with "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get", to his meeting with then president Richard Nixon at the White House and when asked where he got shot responded "In the buttocks".

Forrest Gump has to be one of Tom Hanks finest performances, if not the finest.  His portrayal of this simple yet highly complex and loveable character is nothing short of brilliant, and from beginning to end Forrest Gump is just family entertainment at it's best.

This is a movie that will have you shedding tears of laughter one minute and tears of sadness the next, and if you want more, I highly recommend reading the book on which the movie was based, since the movie barely covers half of the storyline that unfolds in the book. It's a great read too because you can hear Tom Hanks character voice with every word that you read. I actually read the book before I saw the movie, and definitely recommend both.

When you think about it, it's quite amazing what a legacy this movie has left, from counteless quotes of "life is like a box of chocolates" to the highly successful Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, and not forgetting the spoof movie Mafia with the scene "Run Florist Run".

So is Forrest Gump one of your favorite Tom Hanks movies or indeed one of your favorites of all time?
